Jamie Patrick
Jamie Patrick, a business leader, a family man and endurance athlete, will be Swimming California next summer. The Californian, who started swimming as a youngster, trained under renowned Olympic swimmers Matt Biondi and Tim Shaw, two of the greatest swimmers America has produced. Jamie shares their intensity for competition and for extending himself to reach his limits.

Jamie Patrick is Taking On New Challenges in Open Water Swimming
Jamie Patrick tackled a double crossing of Lake Tahoe in 2010, a 25-hour adventure up and back the high-altitude lake bordering California and Nevada. Although he wore a wetsuit, it was a swim where he pushed himself day and night across the renowned lake of deep blue.
With that experience under his swim cap, Jamie is training for his next adventure – a swim across California where he will swim 240 miles along the Sacramento River.
Jamie will be swimming non-stop without a wetsuit for at least 60 hours – starting in the day, he will swim continuously through at least two nights. No sleep, constantly moving, pushing himself beyond all reasonable limits.
This will be the longest river swim in history, and it will take approximately 60 hours.
But what does an endurance athlete think about in order to stay focused for such a long time? Jamie states, "I fight off boredom on ultra swims by using the Finis SwiMP3."
Jamie's support crew of 15 will include Steven Munatones, the former USA Swimming National Open Water Swimming Team Coach. His crew will help guide him down river and be a lifeline in case of trouble.
Intensity, Intelligence and Inquisitiveness
He is tackling this world record swim in his typical fashion – with intensity, intelligence and inquisitiveness.

With the Endless Pool, he can adjust the water temperature and the speed of the current when he trains.

With Endless Pool, Jamie can train by simply walking downstairs and hopping in the Endless Pool to swim throughout flip turns or stopping on the wall. With the Endless Pool, he can train at night to become acclimated to swim through the night.
It's a clever solution to the age-old problem of marathoners.
