Swim22
4 channel swimmers each tackling the Catalina Channel – like a relay – one right after the other.  Any channel swim between Catalina Island and the Southern California mainland has a certain level of risk, but 4 channel swims in a row are unprecedented.  Swimmers #2, #3 and #4 were at the mercy of the swimmer before  them.  They would have to start depending on where – and when – their teammate finished.  The logistics of getting these swimmers and their support crews safely in place was staggering.  But they were not only swimming for themselves.  They were raising money for those less fortunate than themselves.  The Jay Nolan Community Services were the beneficiaries of their efforts.  Tens of thousands of dollars, hopes and a level of awareness – were raised for Jay Nolan.  … through waves, wind, darkness and tides, the going was tough but ultimately, all four swimmers successfully crossed the channel.  But it was not easy and it was certainly not how they originally planned.  They encountered unexpected problems and resolved obstacles that they never imagined.
