Janel Jorgensen is a Stanford University graduate and a remarkable women who leads open water swimming’s most incredible organization – Swim Across America. Janel, a vivacious, personable former 1988 Olympic silver medalist, Janel has developed Swim Across America into the open water swimming world’s largest charitable organization. It has created buzz and an enviable model for success. Swim Across America has raised over $30 million for cancer research, prevention and treatment. With the help of hundreds of volunteers nationwide and numerous past and current Olympians, Janel and her team are helping to find a cure for cancer through athleticism, community outreach and direct service.

Swimming for a Cause!
Janel overseas dozens of events all over America – from swims under the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco to cold-water swims with Olympians in Boston Harbor. But it is not only oceans and lakes where Swim Across America makes a splash – it is also in the virtual world and in pools where Janel and the Swim Across America team have shared their generosity and make valuable contributions to the fight against cancer.
The grassroots charity organization is headquartered out of Boston and is filled with warm-hearted, passionate people. An extension of Janel from coast to coast.
2011 is the 25th anniversary of Swim Across America. Over that quarter century, the organization has grown from a single event in Massachusetts to dozens of events from New York to California.
The $30 million has done directly to its major research beneficiaries, hospitals and research institutes at the cutting edge of cancer research.

78, is the largest annual swim series in the country.
