Michael Read
Michael Read has swum 33 times across the English Channel, and some of these swims actually started with frost on the ground. Beyond the English Channel, he has traveled the world and completed over 110 marathon swims greater than 16 kilometers in distance, and some of his swims have taken over 24 hours.

An Established Legacy
Michael Read is a pioneer and has done numerous, unprecedented swims in bodies of water all over the world. His legacy is certainly established… not only as a swimmer, but also in every aspect of open water swimming. He has volunteered countless hours as an administrator for the Channel Swimming Association, helping many others achieve their dreams.
Michael Read has unselfishly served in every capacity in the sport and understands the value of giving back to the sport. He has been awarded honors from organizations and cities the world over and is a man whose accomplishments, drive and personality are the equivalent of an international treasure to the sport.

Kevin Murphy, who has crossed the English Channel 34 times is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the King of the English Channel for his crossings that have been certified by the Channel Swimming Association and the Channel Swimming & Piloting Federation. Michael Read with his 33 crossings all registered by the Channel Swimming Association is the King of the Channel® as the King of The Channel® is a registered trademark of The Channel Swimming Association Limited, and thereby can only be awarded for Channel Swimming Association registered swims.
